goes to the Airport! Our 21 year old newspaper has been expanding, together we can soar to new heights. WAYNE COUNTY’S DETROIT METROPOLITAN AIRPORT (DTW) was ranked as North America’s 10th busiest airport in terms of passengers; 16th in the world. The 6th busiest in the world based on operations. In 2000 Detroit Metro Airport served 35 million passengers - an increase of 4% over 1999. The new $1.2 billion terminal opened in February 2002, and features 97-gates. According to the Wayne County Division of Airports’ Community Relations department, an average of 375,000 travelers pass through the Davey (North) terminal every two weeks. Of that, an estimated 65% are business people while 35% are leisure travelers. In addition, about 62,000 airport and service employees. |
