The Concert of Colors, Detroit’s Diversity Festival will bring its 11th edition to Chene Park on Detroit’s Riverfront, July 11-13, 2003. Sponsored by ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Service) and New Detroit, The Concert of Colors is dedicated to bringing diverse communities and ethnic groups together through music and appreciation of different cultures. In the spirit of this tradition, the festival will present nearly 40 acts from
more than 20 different countries from around the globe.
Performers for this year’s festival include Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Bo Diddley; the influential Los Angeles band, WAR; from Zimbabwe Oliver Mtukuzdi and Black Sprits; irrepressible singer/songwriter Patty Larkin; Native American Rock/Blues band, Indigenous, eclectic French swing stylists, Paris Combo; Bra
zilian vocalist, Vinicius Cantuaria and reggae favorites, Third World. Also featured will be a newly-created salsa orchestra which includes the sons of legendary performers Tito Puente, Machito, and Tito Rodriguez. Recreating classic sounds of the 50’s and 60’s from the Palladium Ballroom, The Big 3 Palladium Orchestra brings a band of 24 performers to the Chene Park stage
